Vow renewals are an expression of love; a reaffirmation of the promises made to each other. For many couples, renewing your vows recognises the changes you have gone through individually and together and the experiences you have shared. It is a way of shouting from the roof tops or whispering gently in their ear that you still love your partner and are committed to your union.

Without the legal aspect of marriage, vow renewals are open to your interpretation. Some choose to have quiet ceremonies with their closest family and friends; others choose more lavish options. Renewals can be a way of celebrating a milestone wedding anniversary, recognising a challenge you've faced as a couple in life, have the wedding ceremony you never had, or simply because you love each other.
The Ceremony
A vow renewal ceremony commonly follows the same format as a wedding and can include rituals and traditions that reflect your lives together. At Handcrafted Ceremonies, I dedicate time to meet with you and get to know about your love for one another and your shared experiences as a couple. By doing this, I can then use my creativity to sculpt and shape your ceremony, personalised to you both which tells your love story and incorporates any aspects you have mentioned. With my support, we will craft the promises that you will make to one another as you continue forward together.

I can deliver your ceremony wherever and however you wish - on a beach, in your garden, at your favourite restaurant, themed around your favourite TV show or even on a rollercoaster. Love knows no limits!

How long is a vow renewal service?
The average length of a vow renewal service is 30 minutes but if you're choosing a celebrant-led service nothing has to be average! How long the ceremony lasts is entirely down to the content you want to include. You may have family and friends wishing to read some special words, you might have a flash mob choir, you may have a treasure hunt for eternity rings or gifts or must-have rituals. I work with you to curate the perfect ceremony however long or short you'd like it to be!
What does a vow renewal service comprise of?
The structure of a vow renewal service is similar to that of a wedding service but can be shaped around you both. Typically, we take the time to then hear about the journey you've taken in your relationship and the strength of love that binds you both. You can include personal promises and an exchange of rings or gifts. Rituals can be included too at whatever stage feels right. The structure is completely mouldable to how you'd like it be and can include whatever you'd like.
How much is a vow renewal service and how do I pay?
My fees start at £450 and this includes getting to know you both and consulting with you on the structure and content of your ceremony. I'll arrive in plenty of time on the day and liaise with your venue to deliver your special, handcrafted ceremony. Additional costs are charged for rehearsals, ritual elements such as buying specific ribbons for handfasting for instance, and for travel over 20 miles from my home, or for accommodation and travel abroad. I am always open and honest about pricing so you can be assured of what you're paying for. I take a 30% deposit on booking in order to exclusively reserve your date and the remainder three months prior to your day.
How far will you travel to conduct our ceremony?
I'd be honoured to perform your vow renewal ceremony in whichever county or country that you would like.
Can I add something to the service on the day?
Without time limits, then if there's a last minute reading you want to have or Great Auntie Clare has a poem she just must perform then as long as you're happy to add it in, we'll find a way.
Are you insured?
I have been trained by the Academy of Professional Celebrants who I also have professional indemnity and public liability insurance through.
